How I’m Becoming a Mompreneur With GoDaddy

Thank you GoDaddy for sponsoring this post. Get started on building your own website with GoCentral today!

As it’s pretty apparent by now, food is a huge passion of mine. Making it, studying it, planning it and of course, eating it are all some of my favorite pastimes. I couldn’t wait to move into our new home mostly just so I could finally entertain. Nothing gets me going quite like planning a food-centered event. And not to pat my own back, but I think I’m pretty good at it. So when one of my nearest & dearest mama friends, Daniela, approached me about opening a “side hustle” food & entertaining business, I thought it was the best idea I’d ever heard.

For the past few months before Daniela & I had our revelation, I had been struggling with the decision on whether to go back to work or not. I didn’t want to do anything that wasn’t worth me spending time away from Henry, and it just seemed that nothing out there was worthwhile. But at the same time, I felt like I needed a creative outlet and to do something other than just be a 24/7 “mom.” I soon realized that I wasn’t going to be happy unless I was able to do something I was truly passionate about. Cue: whisk + whimsy: a true labor of love. This is the perfect industry for both of us – we can do what we feel we were always meant to while still having ample time to spend with our families. We have big dreams of hosting impeccably designed showers, foodie dinners, birthday parties and other smaller scale events in South Florida (& maybe beyond?!).

Obviously, starting a business, whether it’s your side hustle or your main gig, takes time, but we are both working towards the same goal and taking our “baby steps” to get it off the ground and all our ducks in a row. So, when we had the opportunity to work with GoDaddy’s website builder, GoCentral, we were ALLLL over it. Technology is EVERYTHING these days, and having a beautiful and user-friendly website is an absolute non-negotiable. While I do have a little bit of background in website building & maintaining, I wanted to utilize a service that was easy to use and navigate, had everything I needed at my fingertips and had features that would otherwise take me tons of time to integrate (because ain’t nobody mama got time for that!). Our website took me minimal time to build and customize – perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a lot of technological experience and is busy chasing a toddler around! I thought that it would take some getting used to since I’m more familiar with other platforms, but it was SO easy to figure out – literally I think Henry could’ve built our website. If that doesn’t sound absolutely perfect, I don’t know what does! It’s definitely still a work in progress as we add to our professional portfolio and while we might have to move our website down the road when we become famous (because why wouldn’t we?!), this is a great start for us and our “side hustle.” We’re so excited to get started as soon as we can launch. It’s time for these mombosses to turn passion into profit. So, on that note, stay tuned!
