In the Kitchen, Motherhood + Baby

Our Favorite Toddler Snacks

This is one of the most common questions that I get and I receive so much positive feedback when I post Henry’s meals & snacks on my Instagram. I’ve always loved being in the kitchen and whipping up stuff for Henry was something I always dreamed of even before he was born. While I do try to make most of his meals, his snacks are a mix of homemade and healthy pre-made items. AND, to clarify, I say “OUR” favorite toddler snacks because these are snacks that Henry likes and snacks that I like and feel good about giving him. So, here’s a list of some of our favorites in hopes that it gives you a few ideas for your own little ones (or for yourself, no judgement here):

Seasnax – I know this sounds like such an odd snack for a toddler but Henry LIVES for these! He found where I keep them in the pantry and goes right for them every time I open the door. I prefer this brand to others because they use olive oil for roasting vs some of the other companies that use subpar oils. Therefore, I buy them in bulk on Amazon here.

Homemade or store bought applesauce – Applesauce is super easy to make with a baby food cooker like the Beaba, but when I just don’t have time, this is the brand that I like to buy from Whole Foods (“he” loves the apricot flavor!). I also love these organic applesauce pouches for on the go.

Toast with banana & pecan butter – I love this combo for myself as much as Henry does! Georgia Grinders (NOT an ad) is, BY FAR, my favorite brand of nut butter and is worth every penny.

Graham cracker & blueberries or grapes – If Henry could only eat one thing for the rest of his life, I think it would be blueberries or grapes. I like these graham crackers by Annie’s Homegrown (found at Whole Foods) and it’s really tough to find one healthier than this.

Kids’ RX Bars – We like the adult version of these bars, so it only made sense for us to try the kids’ size for Henry! Since I’m not totally onboard with giving him chocolate yet, we stick with the apple & berry flavors and he loooves them.

Smoothies – These are always a hit and an easy way to sneak in some vegetables for a picky eater. I throw in whatever frozen fruit I have, some unsweetened almond milk & some spinach or kale (frozen cauliflower is also a good option and undetectable) and Henry thinks I’m giving him dessert for a snack. Joke’s on you, kid.

MySuperFoods Granola Bites – These are portable and so good! The little packages make the perfect serving and they’re super soft so you don’t have to worry about a possible choking hazard like other tougher granolas. Our favorite flavors are the apple & blueberry, of course.

Mandarin oranges – If you can’t find the little clementines or mandarins in season, a can without the sugary syrup does the trick too.

Cinnamon apples – These are basically a weekly staple in my meal prepping now because Henry loves them so much! I melt some vanilla bean ghee in a pan and then throw in some diced apple, lots of cinnamon, a little nutmeg and ginger, and then sauté until they’re slightly softened.

I plan on blogging about some of Henry’s main meals soon so stay tuned!
